NUTTY CONFUSION: A sleigh full of holiday shows are upon us, including a few versions of “The Nutcracker,” and that’s created a little chaos to make sure audiences are heading to the right show in downtown San Jose, which has two very different shows with similar marketing. For the third year, the New Ballet has “The San Jose Nutcracker” playing at the Hammer Theatre Center from Dec. 14-24, which puts a local spin on things with references to the Valley of Heart’s Delight and San Jose’s iconic light tower playing the role of the Christmas tree. San Jose Dance Theatre has partnered with the Cambrian Symphony for its version of “The Nutcracker” at the Center for the Performing Arts on Dec. 8-16, a more traditional version that it’s been producing since 1966.
